Visitors to the Alamo over July 4th holiday weekend can celebrate America’s independence with several free events on July 2nd & 4th. We’re open for extended hours during the summer (9:00 am — 7:00 pm), so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the special activities and take one of our regularly scheduled tours.
First Saturday at the Alamo — July 2nd
It’s July 1845 and the citizens of the Republic of Texas must decide whether or not to remain an independent nation or join the United States. Join us Saturday, July 2nd for a special First Saturday at the Alamo and be part of the debate! The day begins at 10:00 am with a flag raising ceremony and activities continue until 4:00 pm. The annexation debate and vote starts at noon.
About First Saturday at the Alamo: On the first Saturday of every month, the grounds of the Alamo are transformed back in time. Join us for a full day of living history fun that the whole family will enjoy. Learn about life in frontier Texas with special demonstrations and crafts.
Movie Night at the Alamo — July 2nd
Join us for a special outdoor movie event at the Alamo on Saturday, July 2nd! Sit under the Texas stars while watching the classic Texas movie Apollo 13 featuring Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon. Movie starts at approximately 8:45 pm when the sun goes down. BYO lawn chair.
Celebrate the Fourth of July at the Alamo with music, living history, readings of the Declaration of Independence and more. Activities begin at 9:00 am and continue until 4:00 pm. Live music provided by the Bexar Bones Quartet and the Heart of Texas Concert Band.
