The Alamo

It’s day two of Museum Week and the theme for the day is sports. We chose to interpret the sports theme by sharing stories of some of the athletes that have visited the Alamo over the years.

In 1983, on the same day that the Los Angeles Lakers would go on to beat the San Antonio Spurs in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, Kareem Abdul Jabbar took time out of his schedule to pay homage to the Alamo.

Olympic silver medalist, world record holder, and the first American high school student to break a 4 minute mile, Jim Ryun stopped by the Alamo with his family in 1979.

And, of course, we often get visited by members of the home teams!
