For the second year, the Alamo is participating in Museum Week, an international online event celebrating and showcasing cultural institutions around the world. Beginning tomorrow, we join museums, libraries and archives around the world in sharing the stories, history, artifacts and people that make up our organization.
In addition to this year’s annual theme “Women and Culture”, each of the next seven days has a daily theme through which we will explore our site and interpret the story of the Alamo. This year’s schedule is:
Monday, June 19 — Food
Tuesday, June 20 — Sports
Wednesday, June 21 — Music
Thursday, June 22 — Stories
Friday, June 23 — Books
Saturday, June 24 — Travels
Sunday, June 24 — Heritage
Museum Week kicks off with a look at the culinary aspects of museums, and we’re joining the fun by answering one of our commonly asked questions, “What did they eat during the battle of the Alamo?” Check back tomorrow to get the answer to that question, and make sure to follow the Alamo across our social media channels to get the full Museum Week experience!
